Launching our Dairy Project at the start of November & Training Farmers!

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

We are at 45% of our fundraising efforts for our proof-of-concept (POC) for the solar dairy project in Jharkhand India. We want to thank everyone that has donated thus far, and we invite more to donate and contribute to our cause. We believe in extending a helping hand, rather than a hand out, to our stake holders so that they can lead self-sustainable lives through renewable energy.

Our POC is as follows:

We will install a solar-powered milk refrigeration unit on an already predetermined dairy farm in Madhupur, India. We will begin to collect data, fine-tune the process and educate the farmer on the utilization of solar energy. Due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, our local Indian Partner, ISIKAN Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd, will be collecting the data, and we will update our progress as the project goes on!

Our associate, Ranjan Ganguli, with our POC dairy farmer in Madhupur, India.

We believe it is crucial to provide dairy farmers with a tangible example for them to evaluate and see firsthand the benefits of the system. At the same time, we also believe that farmers need to receive education on the use of solar. Thus, in addition to the fundraising of this system, we also intend to procure a secondary solar-powered refrigeration system to educate other farmers on solar and train them to use the system.

We would also like to remind everyone that about our "Dollar a Month" program and invite you to become a part of the Lighting For Learning initiative. Your monthly donations go a long way in helping us achieve a sustainable form of revenue to fund various projects, and we greatly appreciate all contributions.
